Our initiatives aim to improve infrastructure and sanitation, and advance opportunities in sports and music. Each project undergoes a streamlined evaluation process, where our regional specialists pinpoint rural schools in dire need of support.

The focus includes essential infrastructural requirements such as building classrooms, renovating existing structures, supplying desks and chairs, setting up libraries, and enhancing sanitation facilities. We understand that access to clean and safe sanitation is not only a health issue but also a significant factor in encouraging school attendance, particularly among girls. By enhancing sanitation facilities, we aim to create an environment where all students feel comfortable and secure, thus promoting higher enrollment and retention rates. Furthermore, we promote extracurricular activities by supplying sports and music equipment.

Throughout Authenticities’ ten-year journey, we have created platforms for residents to share their stories, skills, and traditions via guided tours, cultural workshops, and artisan markets.

We also encourage visitors to connect with and support local services, including family-run accommodations, cultural and lifestyle experiences, and community-led events. Our deep-seated commitment to sustainable tourism practices ensures the local communities benefit from tourism, above all, from mindful and conscious tourism. As a result, we have successfully generated over 200 career opportunities for local individuals, advocating for equal opportunities and empowering women.

Additionally, Renew extends playing a vital role in enhancing and sustaining this initiative, which aims to inspire community resilience, foster pride in local identity, and create meaningful connections between visitors and residents.

During the pandemic, Authenticities dedicated significant efforts to conducting productive research on sustainable initiatives aimed at fostering environmental health and resilience. 

One of our key projects involved the ambitious planting of over 6,500 cinnamon trees in Digana, a picturesque suburb of Kandy. This endeavour took place on 2 ½ acres of land, allowing us to not only contribute to reforestation but also to support local biodiversity.

In addition to cinnamon, we expanded our planting efforts to include vanilla and passion fruit. These choices were part of a strategic plan to explore alternative crops that could help reduce carbon footprints while also aligning with our ethical commitment to sustainability. Through these initiatives, we are proud to be part of a larger movement towards sustainable agriculture and ecological responsibility.

It is an integral part of our concept to promote local businesses and prioritise community-led tourism; these approaches empower residents to become active participants in the travel economy.

From hosting authentic local experiences to managing sustainable accommodations, locals find meaningful roles that celebrate their skills and knowledge. Artisans and craftspeople benefit from showcasing their heritage to a global audience, while farmers and producers thrive by supplying fresh, local goods to conscious travellers.

Through long-term partnerships with local stakeholders, we strive to transform tourism into a powerful tool for empowerment. Our goal is to foster financial independence among community members, enabling them to invest in their businesses and improve their quality of life.
